EU military training mission in CAR expanded and extended

JOHANNESBURG- The EU has extended the mandate of its military training mission in the Central African Republic by two years, 19 September 2020. The European bloc has set aside a budget of around €25.4 million for the two year period.

This EU has been for some time been by providing humanitarian support to West and Central Africa, in 2017 to nearly €254 million was spent by the bloc.

On Monday, The EU has also modified the mandate of  its team to enable it to give strategic advice not only to the Ministry of Defence, military staff and the armed forces, but also to the President’s cabinet, and to allow it to provide advice on civil-military cooperation, including to the Ministry of the Interior.
