Morocco King pardons minor over security breach

JOHANNESBURG-Moroccan King Mohammed VI pardoned a 17-year-old minor who deliberately approached the royal procession on Saturday.

The King who was hosting Pope Francis said in a tweet “God bless him and well good health for his parents.”

International media had reported that the minor had been arrested after a security scare during Pope Francis’ visit to Morocco.

Security stopped the man before he reached the king, who was waving at the crowd from an open-air car in Rabat.

The man was tackled to the ground and arrested by police.

The Pope is in Morocco for a two-day tour in an attempt to improve relations between Catholics and Muslims.
