JOHANNESBURG- Rwanda opposition politician, Diane Rwigara, has been released from prison on bail after she was arrested last September for inciting insurrection and forgery, a charge she denied.
Rwigara’s mother, Adeline, was also released on Friday.
The youthful politician was barred from contesting in Rwanda’s presidential poll for failing to collect the required number of supporting signatures from around the country.
BBC reports that prison wardens separated Diane Rwigara and her mother Adeline from excited supporters after the announcement was made in a court in the capital Kigali.
The judges granted the bail because the prosecution did not give credible reasons why the accused should be detained during their trial.
Rwigara has been given stringent bail conditions, which include handing over her passport and seek permission when she intends to leave the capital city, Kigali.
